Wild Bill Hickok and Jingles #68 - Al Williamson art

Wild Bill Hickok and Jingles v1 #68, 1958 - Like much of his work for Charlton, Al Williamson's art tends to be spontaneous and more painterly. In this case, however, certain panels lack clarity and definition, detracting from the overall aesthetic. His use of a silhouette on page two, panel six of "Stampede" is unnecessary, bordering on laziness. Page four, panel five of "The Marshall Got Mad" (see interior page shown below) is one of the issue's few high points, and more representative of Williamson's talents. Angelo Torres, unfortunately, seems just as hurried in his inking. Other artists in this golden age western comic include Sal Trapani. This is 1 of 3 Wild Bill Hickok and Jingles issues by Williamson.
